Why I Will Never Use Any Product Made With Deet

I refuse to use mosquito repellant made with deet. This is the reason why.

A few years ago, a lot of us decided to camp by the beach. It was allowed then, it is not allowed now. I sprayed all exposed areas with mosquito repellant - deet was and still is the active ingredient. Then I sat down on a beach chair to watch the sun set. After about 10 minutes, I reached for a drink. Where my arm had been resting, the plastic on the armrest was melting and turning into goo. I lifted my other arm, and the same thing.

I called to the others to come and see this. Other people, who had also been sitting down, found the same thing on the beach chairs they were on. All plastic was melting and turning into goo where arms sprayed with deet had been resting...
